“There’s not many of them when you start looking at the inventory, but we are just getting started,” Castille said.

Castille said its important to bring a kayak launch to mid-city due to accessibility and Louisiana being known as “Sportsman’s Paradise.”

“That phrase, ‘Sportsman’s Paradise,’ comes from hunting, golfing … and it’s fishing,” Castille said. “If you go to Prien Lake, you see a disparity between two economic opportunities. You’ll see someone back in a $50,000 bay boat, and you’ll see someone who has a couple fishing rods fishing off the dock. There should be a middle ground, and that’s where the kayaks come in.”
