$30 million allocated for Vermont flood infraztructure repairs

WASHINGTON (WCAX) – More than $30 million is coming to Vermont for flood recovery work.

Vermont Senator Peter Welch says the funding from the Department of Transportation will reimburse the state for the cost of road, culvert, bridge, and trail repairs from last year’s flooding.

“The floods in July 2023 and July 2024 were catastrophic—they hammered communities and left the infrastructure we rely on every day—roads, bridges, culverts, and more—in really rough shape. Thankfully, the Vermont Agency of Transportation worked through the storms and long after to repair and replace infrastructure as quickly as possible. This $30.2 million from the Department of Transportation will be a big help here in Vermont. I was proud to help pass and secure this funding and I am thankful for former President Biden’s commitment to our flood recovery,” Welch said in a statement.
