2-year-old dies after being rescued from central Pa. pond: state police

A 2-year-old boy died at a Dauphin County hospital after he was pulled from a pond in rural Lancaster County last week, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The boy on Oct. 23 was taken to Penn State Hershey Medical Center in critical condition after he fell into a pond on the 1000 block of Mine Road in Salisbury Township.

Pennsylvania State Police originally said the boy was 4 years old. However, a public information officer on Tuesday said the boy was 2 years old and the previous age provided was a mistake.

The boy was taken off life support at the hospital on Sunday, state police said.

No further information about the incident or the boy’s name has been made publicly available.
