INDIANAPOLIS — Two people were hurt in a shooting on the west side of Indianapolis Saturday night, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
IMPD said officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of North Warman Avenue just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday on reports of a person shot.
Upon arriving, they found two boys who’d been shot. They were taken to local hospital in stable condition.
IMPD Capt. Richard Ray said an initial investigation indicated the shots came from a vehicle that drove by the two boys. He could not immediately give a description of the vehicle.
Ray told reporters the public and law enforcement needed to work together to end violence in the Indianapolis community.
“Indy gun violence is a challenge law enforcement cannot solve alone,” he said. “It’s a burden that a community should not have to carry by itself. Public safety is a shared responsibility.”
Ray asked anyone with any information on this incident to contact police immediately.
