An investigation is underway after a morning homicide in northern Birmingham.

The shooting happened at 10:12 a.m. Saturday in the 3200 block of 32nd Street North in the area of Collegeville.

One person was killed, and a suspect is reportedly in custody.

No additional details have yet been released.

The victim is Birmingham’s 70th homicide so far this year. Of those, one of the victims was shot in 2024 but died in 2025.

In all of Jefferson County, there have been 102 homicides including the 70 victims in Birmingham.
