1 dead, 1 seriously injured in Anchorage shooting

A shooting early Saturday in northeast Anchorage left one person dead and sent another to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Officers responded to a reported shooting just after 5 a.m. Saturday on the 100 block of North Hoyt Street, the Anchorage Police Department said in an online post.

Arriving officers found a male dead at the scene, and another person was taken to the hospital with “possible life-threatening injuries,” police said.

“Detectives have contacted everyone believed to be involved in this investigation and are not looking for anyone at this time,” the department said in its post.

Police asked anyone with information about the shooting who hasn’t already talked to them to call dispatch at 311 or 907-786-8900.
