We discussed the importance of implementing projects within the framework of the PURL initiative, particularly regarding air defence assets, and of using the opportunities provided by the SAFE mechanism,” the president added, referring to the programme for purchasing American weapons for Ukraine.

The two sides also discussed veteran policy, and Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is interested in Croatia’s experience in this area.

Background:

  • Earlier on 27 October, the defence ministers of Croatia and Ukraine signed a Letter of Intent to deepen cooperation in the defence industry.

  • Over the years of Russia’s full-scale war, Croatia has also provided other forms of support to Ukraine, including the transfer of Mi-8 helicopters and assistance with rest and rehabilitation for Ukrainian children and service members.
