Tourist influx expected in Transcarpathia as crocuses reach peak bloom

Transcarpathia is expected to see the peak of crocus blooming next week, and regional tourism experts predict a surge of visitors over the following weekend.

Speaking to Ukrinform, local guide Maksym Adamenko said that warmer weather will accelerate the flowering.

“According to weather forecasts, nighttime temperatures will stay above zero starting Monday. The warmer weather will push along the flowers that have already emerged, and the crocuses will bloom en masse. Visitors will be able to admire the purple carpets as early as Tuesday, March 3. We expect a wave of tourists over the weekend of March 7–8,” he said.

Adamenko noted that the blooming period typically lasts about ten days.

He added that in Mukachevo, the largest and most accessible location is the Berezynka arboretum.

“Tourists are already booking crocus tours. Traditionally, the biggest crowds head to the Berezynka arboretum near Mukachevo, where crocuses cover hectares. We also take visitors to natural locations where tourism does not place heavy pressure on the environment,” Adamenko said.

He advised travelers from other regions to use certified guides affiliated with the regional Association of Tourist Support Specialists of Transcarpathia. A crocus tour without meals is expected to cost from 500 hryvnias.

Earlier, Ukrinform reported that crocuses and snowdrops began blooming in Transcarpathia in mid-February.
