Germany has provided the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) with 10 sets of hydraulic rescue equipment for responding to the aftermath of Russian attacks, enabling rescuers to free people trapped under rubble more quickly.

The SES announced this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

The equipment will allow rescuers to extract people from under collapsed buildings faster and cut through metal structures and vehicles.

“We are sincerely grateful to our German partners for providing this specialized equipment, which is critically important for conducting rescue operations, clearing debris, and saving lives. I am convinced that this equipment will significantly strengthen the capabilities of our units and help save many more lives,” said Volodymyr Demchuk, Deputy Head of the State Emergency Service.

It is noted that this is not the first delivery of assistance under the Ukrainian-German project.

“This equipment is a chance to act in time. Only six days passed from the moment the Ukrainian side informed us of the urgent need until the equipment was delivered. This is an example of effective cooperation and a testament to the genuine partnership and friendship between Germany and Ukraine,” said Katrin Buchholz, Chargé d’Affaires of Germany in Ukraine.

The SES clarified that the equipment was purchased by the German government through GIZ in response to Russia’s large-scale attacks.

The project, “Support to State and Municipal Emergency Management in Ukraine,” is being implemented on behalf of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and is part of its Transitional Development Assistance Programme.

As Ukrinform reported, SES rescuers also received 25 first-aid training kits with the support of UNDP and the Government of the Netherlands.
