President of Azerbaijan allocates $2 million for humanitarian aid to Ukraine
AKIPRESS.COM – Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree to allocate $2 million to the country’s Ministry of Energy for humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The order published on the president’s website specifies that the funds will be used to purchase and ship electrical equipment produced in Azerbaijan to Ukraine.
This is not the first time Azerbaijan has provided humanitarian aid to Kyiv. In February 2025, Aliyev also allocated $1 million for electrical equipment, and in July 2023, he provided $7.6 million. In 2022, Azerbaijan’s aid to Ukraine exceeded 30 million manats (about $17.6 million), which was the largest amount of aid the country provided to any nation that year. The aid included medical supplies, food, transformers, generators, and support for the medical and psychological rehabilitation of Ukrainian children.
The latest announcement follows a phone call on August 10 between Aliyev and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during which they condemned “Russian attacks” on a fuel depot belonging to Azerbaijan’s state-owned company SOCAR in Ukraine, as well as on other Azerbaijani facilities. Caliber.Az has reported that Azerbaijan may now be considering lifting its embargo on arms sales to Ukraine.
