President Japarov attends new e-buses and upgraded DEPO-2 in Bishkek
AKIPRESS.COM – President Sadyr Japarov on August 28 took part in the opening ceremony of a new service center for electric and gas-powered buses in Bishkek, the president’s press service said.
The upgraded DEPO-2 now spans 4.7 hectares and can service up to 150 vehicles simultaneously.
Japarov highlighted the center as a major step toward eco-friendly urban transport and better public mobility. He stressed the state’s commitment to reducing air pollution and expanding public transport noting over 1,000 gas buses were purchased in the past two years.
The depot, originally built in 1971, has been fully modernized with support from the Asian Development Bank. Alongside, 120 new electric buses have been delivered to the city.
Japarov called on drivers to follow traffic rules and avoid causing congestion, and urged passengers to respect public transport and its workers. After the event, he toured the facility and took a ride on an electric bus.
