PM of Kazakhstan calls for accelerating modernization of Trans-Caspian Corridor
AKIPRESS.COM – The total trade turnover among the countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) currently stands at about $180 million, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov said at a meeting of the heads of government/vice presidents of OTS member states in Bishkek on September 18.
According to him, this is a strategically important region with a stable economy. The high economic growth rates of the association are confirmed by the fact that the total GDP of the OTS countries has exceeded $2.1 trillion, and the association’s trade turnover with third countries has reached $1.1 trillion.
“The region has significant transit potential. Transport, logistics, and infrastructure links require further development. We consider it essential to accelerate the modernization of the International Trans-Caspian Corridor, including its ports and railways, as well as the digitalization of customs procedures. OTS members must actively develop cooperation and increase trade volumes in spheres of agriculture, industrialization, energy, and digital technologies. In recent years, our union has been systematically building its position and shaping the agenda on the international stage,” Bektenov commented.
