Ombudswoman for Children’s Rights of Kyrgyzstan attends meeting of Ombudspersons of Central Asian countries
AKIPRESS.COM – The first international forum on “Strengthening Child Rights Protection Mechanisms in Central Asian Countries: Regional Cooperation of Ombudspersons for Children’s Rights” took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on September 11-12.
The forum was attended by Ombudspersons for Children’s Rights from Central Asian countries, as well as Ombudspersons from Finland, Croatia, and Norway. Also present were representatives from parliamentary structures, government bodies, international organizations, and civil society, the Cabinet of Ministers’ press service said.
Kyrgyzstan was represented by Children’s Rights Ombudsperson Asel Chynbaeva. On the first day of the forum, she gave a presentation on the specifics of national monitoring of children’s situations in Central Asia, sharing Kyrgyzstan’s experience in this field.
The forum focused on protecting children from all forms of violence, ensuring their access to justice, and children’s safety on Internet.
A major outcome was the signing of the Declaration of Ombudspersons for Children’s Rights of Central Asian Countries.
During the visit, the ombudspersons met with Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Parliament of Uzbekistan. They discussed regional cooperation and how ombudspersons can collaborate with parliaments to improve child rights protection.
A key result of the forum was the decision to create a regional platform for Central Asian children’s ombudspersons. This new platform opens up new prospects for joint activities aimed at protecting the rights and legitimate interests of children.
