Iranian UN Envoy reports over 1,300 civilian casualties following U.S. and Israeli strikes
AKIPRESS.COM – Amir Saied Iravani, Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, stated that more than 1,300 civilians have been killed in Iran since the commencement of military operations by the United States and Israel, Xinhua reported.
Iravani detailed the extensive destruction of nearly 9,669 civilian sites, which includes 7,943 residential homes, 1,617 commercial and service centers, 32 medical and pharmaceutical facilities, and 65 educational institutions. Additionally, 13 Red Cross buildings and several critical power supply facilities have been damaged or destroyed during the offensive.
The Iranian Ministry of Health has reported that 15,000 people have been injured since the escalation of the conflict. Of those hospitalized, approximately 12,500 have received treatment and been discharged, while 1,700 Iranians remain in medical facilities for ongoing care.
The joint military operation against Iran began on February 28, 2026, and United Nations data as of March 6 confirms that the scale of the conflict has already resulted in significant loss of life and the degradation of over 100 key civilian infrastructure points across the country.
