IAEA confirms damage to Natanz nuclear enrichment facility following military strikes
AKIPRESS.COM – The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed reports of structural damage to buildings at the Iranian nuclear fuel enrichment plant in the city of Natanz.
According to a statement released by the agency’s press service on the social media platform X, current assessments indicate that no radiological consequences are expected as a result of the destruction. This update follows a report from CNN, which cited satellite imagery from the American company Vantor showing that one large and two smaller structures at the facility sustained significant damage from U.S. and Israeli strikes on March 3, 2026. These specific buildings served as the service entrance to the underground halls housing uranium enrichment equipment.
The Natanz nuclear complex is a cornerstone of Iran’s atomic infrastructure, with an estimated valuation between $2 trillion and $3 trillion. Despite the confirmed physical strikes on the facility’s perimeter and entrances, the IAEA continues to monitor the site for any potential environmental or safety hazards resulting from the breach of the enrichment center’s auxiliary buildings.
