In keeping with this year’s International Day of Yoga theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”, Yoga with Ved is enlightening many people on the ancient practice of Yoga through impactful discussions and meditation.
Many gathered at the Divali Nagar on Saturday for an afternoon of wisdom and wellness, hosted by Yoga with Ved.
The event was held in commemoration of International Day of Yoga, observed on June 21.
Through an insightful panel discussion, meditation coach Ved Valmiki shared the mental health benefits of Yoga as he recalled some of the earlier struggles he encountered.
“I remember feeling like the mind is just unwieldy, that there is so much thoughts, that it is so restless, it brings so much frustration, I remember asking myself, what is this all about, this life that we have and feeling a very powerful disconnection.”
Renee Arundhati Rampersadsingh, from Anugraha Yoga, attempted to satisfy the question of whether Yoga can assist with the changes in the body caused by menopause.
She assured participants that it provides the tools needed to manage some of the difficulties.
“The full answer is yes, yes menopause, perimenopause, yoga will help you to manage, all of the symptoms, all of the experiences that happen, not just physically in the body, but emotionally, and really beginning to as that transition happens and we notice the shifts, like suddenly the body is not doing what is used to do, like five years ago.”
Also sharing the impact Yoga has had on her health journey was Hanna Sri Devi of Sacred Flow Yoga, who stressed that Yoga must be adopted as a way of life in order to see its benefits.
“This took time, this took effort, this took daily lifestyle transformation, and it wasn’t easy because it wasn’t like this was something that was solved by one or two things, or something that was solved quickly, it took quite a bit of time.”
As the session unfolded, participants engaged in mantras and meditation, exploring the ancient practice of Yoga, which originated in India over 5,000 years ago and has grown into a global movement.
The theme for the 12th annual International Day of Yoga is “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”.
