TTPS Launches Urgent Investigation After Discovery Of Human Remains

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has launched an urgent investigation following the discovery of the bodies of 50 infants, 4 adult males and 2 adult females.

In a press release, the TTPS reported that identification tags were found on all the adult remains except for one male. However, while preliminary findings point toward the unlawful disposal of unclaimed bodies, the TTPS emphasises that the investigation is still developing.

In a statement, Commissioner of Police, Allister Guevarro, assured that the matter is being attended to with urgency and sensitivity.

“The nature of this discovery is deeply troubling, and we understand the emotional impact it will have on families and the wider national community. The TTPS is approaching this matter with urgency, sensitivity, and unwavering commitment to uncovering the truth. Every cadaver must be handled with dignity and lawful care. Any individual or institution found to have violated that duty will be held fully accountable.”

Forensic teams are currently working to trace the origin of the remains and identify any criminal or procedural violations. Specialized units, including the Homicide Bureau, and officers are also engaged in this investigation.
