As part of the national effort to send aid to Venezuela, the Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) is encouraging Tobagonians to donate non-perishable and other relief items following the devastating twin earthquakes on June 24th.

Donations for the “Venezuelan Marathon Relief Drive” will be collected differently.

TEMA Director Allan Stewart said his team members will be driving through communities to collect donations.

“It is clear that we recognise the methods we have used in the past for donations of this kind is not working, and therefore I am here today to make that strong appeal.”

Arrangements have been made with several businesses around the island to act as collection points.

Head of the Tobago Muslim community Kameel Ali has offered the community’s compound in Lowlands as one such area.

“The Muslim community of Tobago would love to collaborate with TEMA. We will like to use our compound to store goods and services so we could send to the people of Venezuela. We have a lot of storage there, so we are giving our compound all of the space there. People can drop off their stuff.”
