One In Custody As Police Continue Probe Into Attempted Disposal Of Bodies At Cumuto Cemetery

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) says one individual remains in police custody assisting investigators in connection with an ongoing probe into the attempted disposal of bodies at the Cumuto Cemetery.

A statement from the TTPS said at this stage no charges have been laid as inquiries remain active and ongoing.

The TTPS confirmed that on Thursday April 22nd, 2026, investigators executed several search warrants at multiple locations as part of the continuing investigation. Following these operations, a number of persons of interest have been identified, and arrangements are being made to conduct further interviews. These include individuals who may be able to assist investigators, among them representatives of the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation.

The TTPS has assured the public that the matter is being treated with the utmost seriousness and sensitivity. Police say investigations remain active as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
