Nicholas Paul Claims Keirin Bronze At UCI Track World Cup

It proved to be a fruitful day two of the UCI Track World Cup in Nilal Malaysia, for Trinidad and Tobago Cyclist Nicholas Paul.

After missing out a podium finish in the Men’s Sprint, the cyclist returned on Saturday to capture bronze in the men’s Keirin final

Adrian Lazar reports…

After narrowly missing out on a bronze medal finish by placing fourth in the men’s sprint in day one of the UCI Track World Cup in Nilal Malaysia, Trinidad and Tobago Cyclist Nicholas Paul aimed to medal on day two in the men’s Keirin final.

In Paul’s way was Maylasia’s Mohd Awang and 29 year old world champion from the Netherlands, Harrie Lavreysen.

Going into the final of six laps Paul took and early lead against the chasing pack, but in the final stretch Awang and Lavreysen overtook Paul at the death.

Awang won gold, Lavreysen won silver while T&T’s Nicholas Paul came out with an impressive bronze medal finish.
