Ministry Distributes Home Repair And Disaster Grants To Vulnerable Families

The Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services has distributed additional Home Repair and Disaster Assistance grants to vulnerable households in Port of Spain and Diego Martin.

Through the National Social Development Programme, 16 families received Home Repair Grants totalling just over $332,000. The funding is expected to assist 45 individuals with improvements aimed at restoring safety and functionality to their homes.

Nine other households, representing 20 beneficiaries, were awarded more than $80,000 in Disaster Assistance Grants to support recovery efforts following recent events.

Speaking at the distribution, Minister Vandana Mohit said the initiative reflects the Government’s commitment to delivering timely and accountable support to citizens facing hardship.

The Ministry said it continues to serve as a secondary responder during disasters, providing financial relief and psychosocial support, while advancing longer-term social protection programmes across Trinidad and Tobago.
