Massive Anti-Crime Exercises Over Divali Weekend Result In Several Arrests and Seizures

Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) were deployed in full force across all ten Police Divisions over the Divali weekend, conducting extensive anti-crime and road safety exercises.

A total of 426 policing operations were conducted during the period 6 am, Thursday 16th October, 2025 to 6 am, Tuesday 21st October, 2025, resulting in the following successes:

-Six firearm seizures, of which three were rifles,

-176 rounds of assorted ammunition seized,

-77.39 kilogrammes of cannabis seized,

-386.8 grammes of cocaine seized,

-2,881 searches of vehicles and premises,

-282 road traffic operations,

-2,042 road traffic offences detected,

-113 priority offenders targeted, and

-161 persons arrested.

These operations focused on major roadways and were guided by intelligence gathered in keeping with the State of Emergency (SOE) Regulations.

Particular attention was directed toward national installations, business places, government buildings, residential communities, and Divali celebrations, ensuring heightened police visibility throughout the country.

All Divisional Commanders and other senior officers participated in the exercises, which were coordinated by Acting Commissioner of Police Junior Benjamin, Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations Curt Simon, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Richard Smith, and all Divisional Heads.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service extends sincere thanks to members of the public for their cooperation during these widespread operations and assures citizens that their safety and security remain the organisation’s top priority.

The TTPS looks forward to the continued support of the public as it remains steadfast in its mission to ensure a safer Trinidad and Tobago.
