19-year-old arrested, two firearms seized in Point Fortin operation

Police arrested a 19-year-old man and seized two firearms along with ammunition during an intelligence-led operation in Point Fortin on Saturday, October 11, 2025.

At 3:15 p.m., officers acting on information about an armed man in the School Road, Cap-de-Ville area observed the suspect near a white concrete structure. When he ran from the approaching unmarked vehicle, officers gave chase across muddy terrain. During the pursuit, an object fell from the suspect’s waist, and he stumbled in the mud. Officers recovered the object, a Glock 17 pistol with a magazine containing 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition, leading to his arrest for possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Later that evening, at 9:15 p.m., officers accompanied the suspect to his Lawrenceville Road residence and conducted a search under the Emergency Powers Regulations. In a bedroom, they found a wooden and metal firearm containing one round of 7.62mm ammunition, along with five 12-gauge cartridges. The weapons and ammunition were seized and taken to the Point Fortin Police Station.
