Tajikistan’s national junior judo team won four medals at the 2026 Asian Junior Judo Championships in Amman, Jordan, finishing eighth in the overall medal standings.

The competition, held from July 17 to 19, brought together some of the continent’s strongest young judokas and provided an opportunity to assess Tajikistan’s emerging athletes at the international level.

Tajikistan’s first medals came in the men’s 66 kg category, where Yosin Bobokalonov and Muhammadrofe Habibulloh each secured bronze. Voris Nazarov added another bronze medal in the 73 kg division.

On the final day of competition, Aminjon Abdujalilzoda claimed silver in the 81 kg category, completing Tajikistan’s medal haul.

Tajikistan was represented by nine athletes: Ikrom Shamsov and Ramziddin Azizov in the 60 kg category; Yosin Bobokalonov and Muhammadrofe Habibulloh in the 66 kg category; Voris Nazarov and Muhammadi Loiqov in the 73 kg category; Aminjon Abdujalilzoda and Abdullo Loiqov in the 81 kg category; and Ardasher Hamza in the 90 kg division.

Three other Tajik judokas narrowly missed out on medals. Ikrom Shamsov, Muhammadi Loiqov and Ardasher Hamza reached their respective bronze-medal contests but lost the decisive bouts, finishing fifth in their weight categories.

Uzbekistan topped the medal standings with seven gold, two silver and six bronze medals. Kazakhstan finished second with five gold, four silver and three bronze medals.

India won one gold, two silver and four bronze medals, while South Korea claimed one gold and two bronze medals. Chinese Taipei earned two silver and three bronze medals.

The Asian Junior Judo Championships also provided Tajikistan’s young athletes with international experience ahead of future continental and world-level competitions.
