OTS Secretary General delivers address at International Issyk-Kul Forum
AKIPRESS.COM – Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Kubanychbek Omuraliev delivered a speech at the International Issyk-Kul Forum held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic, on June 18, the OTS press service reported.
The forum, held under the theme “The World in the Harmony of Civilizations: Together Towards the Future”, brought together political leaders, scholars, writers and public intellectuals and marked the 40th anniversary of its establishment by writer and thinker Chyngyz Aitmatov.
Addressing the participants, the Secretary General highlighted the forum’s enduring role as an important platform for dialogue among nations, cultures, and civilizations. He emphasized the continued relevance of Aitmatov’s ideas, particularly the importance of mutual understanding, cultural dialogue, and international cooperation in addressing contemporary global challenges.
Ambassador Omuraliev also underscored the growing cooperation among the OTS member states and highlighted ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening the shared cultural and historical heritage of the Turkic world. He referred to the development of the Common Turkic Alphabet and the ongoing work of scholars and experts from member states on a common history of the Turkic world.
The Secretary General further welcomed the forthcoming tenure of the Kyrgyz Republic as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term and emphasized the growing importance of multilateral cooperation in addressing global challenges, including climate change, glacier preservation and water security.
The first Issyk-Kul Forum was initiated by Chyngyz Aitmatov in 1986 as a platform for discussing pressing global issues and seeking common solutions through dialogue.
