National Oncology Center resumes operation of linear accelerators
AKIPRESS.COM – The National Center for Oncology and Hematology has resumed the operation of linear accelerators, according to center’s director Nurbek Bukuev.
The accelerators broke down in July. The Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Health allocated funds for repairs.
“Last week, a technical launch took place, and the devices began to operate. They also began to conduct irradiation. From today, everything is functioning as usual,” he said.
The center reported that there are only two such devices in the country, and one accelerator is designed for about 300,000 people. From 160 to 200 patients passed through them daily.
The linear accelerators were installed and put into operation in 2021. They are designed to carry out high-precision radiation therapy for oncological diseases.
