Bekzat Almaz uulu wins silver medal at World Wrestling Championships in Croatia

AKIPRESS.COM – Athlete from Kyrgyzstan Bekzat Almaz uulu took 2nd place at the World Wrestling Championships in Croatia.

He competed in the 57 kg weight category.

Almaz uulu first defeated the Canadian athlete ahead of schedule, and he defeated the Japanese athlete in the 1/8 finals. In the quarterfinals, he defeated the Macedonian athlete ahead of schedule and advanced to the semifinals.

In the fight for the final, Almaz uulu won against wrestler from Uzbekistan, to whom he lost in the fight for bronze at the Olympic Games in Paris.

The Kyrgyzstani advanced to the final, where he faced the current Asian champion from North Korea.

The North Korean athlete won the final fight, and Almaz uulu took 2nd place and won silver.

This medal was the second for Kyrgyzstan at the tournament in Croatia. The day before, Ernazar Akmataliev won bronze in the 70 kg weight category.
