JUBA, South Sudan (Eye Radio) – President Salva Kiir, the SPLM Chairman, met with senior party leaders on Friday at the State House, signaling a renewed commitment to national reconciliation and transformation ahead of the 2026 general elections.

According to the statement by the Office of the President, during the strategic meeting on Friday, December 5, the SPLM top brass announced that the party will soon extend its hand to all opposition groups, saying this move aims to pave the way for a sustainable and inclusive peace across the country.

SPLM Secretary General Dr Akol Paul Kordit described the discussion as forward-looking, designed to rejuvenate the ruling party and open up political space through dialogue.

Dr. Akol confirmed he presented crucial strategic plans for the party’s transformation agenda, which align with the Chairman’s recent directives.

According to him, these action points will be rolled out in the coming days as the country approaches the end of the transitional period.

The Secretary General also urged SPLM members and the public to prepare for the December 2026 electoral process, emphasizing the importance of upholding the party’s founding values.
