Four Republicans from the House Judiciary Committee have given South Korea’s media regulator until Aug. 20 to explain how it will enforce the amended Network Act, forcing Seoul to decide how far it is willing to accommodate U.S. congressional scrutiny of a Korean agency before that agency has taken any enforcement action.

The Aug. 6 letter to Korea Media and Communications Commission (KMCC) Chairman Kim Jong-cheol carries the signatures of committee chairman Rep. Jim Jordan, subcommittee chairman Rep. Scott Fitzgerald and Reps. Darrell Issa and Michael Baumgartner. 

It requests a briefing no later than 10 a.m. ET on Aug.
