Uber’s decision to increase its stake in Delivery Hero — a German multinational online food ordering and food delivery company — has revived questions over the future ownership of Baedal Minjok, better known as Baemin, South Korea’s dominant food-delivery platform. It has raised broader questions about how far regulators might allow major digital platforms to integrate search, mobility, payments and delivery services.
Delivery Hero said on May 18 that Uber now owns 19.5% of its issued shares and has secured an option to acquire an additional 5.6%. Reuters reportedthat the move made Uber the German delivery group’s largest shareholder.
