South Korea shifts from industrial vision to execution in new growth strategy

South Korea on Tuesday unveiled its Economic Growth Strategy for the Second Half of 2026, presenting a government-wide framework aimed at raising long-term growth by coordinating industrial policy, fiscal support, capital investment and regulatory reform around semiconductors, artificial intelligence and other strategic industries. The strategy sets out the Lee Jae Myung administration’s “3-4-5” vision of raising potential growth to 3%, making South Korea the world’s fourth-largest exporter and increasing per capita gross national income to $50,000, while maintaining this year’s real GDP growth forecast at 3%.
