South Korea, Qatar shift ties toward capital-backed tech investment push

South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIR) said on Wednesday that Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo met Qatar’s Minister of State for Trade Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed in Seoul to discuss expanding bilateral investment cooperation in advanced industries, including semiconductors and biotechnology. The meeting follows an April 13 visit to Doha by a presidential special envoy for strategic economic cooperation, and was aimed at translating those discussions into concrete outcomes.

Yeo and Al-Sayed agreed to explore ways to combine South Korea’s manufacturing and advanced technology capabilities with Qatar’s capital and industrial diversification plans, the ministry said. The two sides
