South Korean President Lee Jae-myung finalized his first-term leadership team late last week, nominating the last two cabinet nominees and completing the lineup of senior secretaries and advisers in the presidential office.

Nine of the 19 cabinet nominees are sitting lawmakers, all from the ruling Democratic Party (DP), several of whom were tapped to lead ministries expected to undergo major overhauls, such as defense, justice and interior. The others come from the private sector, labor and academia, with five women named — accounting for 26% of the total.
