Five workers were killed and two others injured Monday after an explosion and fire at Hanwha Aerospace’s facility in Daejeon, prompting a large-scale emergency response and a government investigation into the cause of the accident. Authorities said the explosion occurred at approximately 10:59 a.m. in a cleaning room inside Building 56 at the weapons manufacturing complex in Yuseong District. Fire officials brought the blaze under control and later extinguished it, while emergency responders recovered the victims and transported the injured to nearby medical facilities.
