Mogadishu (WDN)– Reports from the coastal town of Warsheekh, 72 Km north of the capital Mogadishu, in Middle Shabelle region indicate that fighting broke out this morning on the outskirts of the town between forces belonging to the federal government.
The clashes are taking place in the Baasheey area of Warsheekh district. According to initial reports, the fighting was triggered by a dispute over land demarcation being carried out by the Warsheekh administration in the area.
Footage emerging from the scene shows heavy gunfire being exchanged between the two sides.
Some local residents have accused MP Xaadoole of being behind the clashes, alleging that he deployed armed technical vehicles that are actively participating in the fighting.
However, there is no independent confirmation to substantiate claims that the MP is directly involved or that forces linked to him initiated the conflict.
