Honiara, 23 July 2025 — The Solomon Islands Government applauds Australia and Papua New Guinea Governments for their unwavering support towards the establishment of the country’s historic Digital Border Management System (BMS).
Speaking at the launch of a two-day national workshop introducing the country’s new Digital Border Management System (BMS) on Wednesday 23rd July 2025, the Minister for Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration, Hon. Trevor Manemahaga said the initiative is a major milestone in the journey toward a modern, efficient, and secure border management system for the Solomon Islands.

Australia and Papua New Guinea, through technical experts from the Australian Department of Home Affairs and the Immigration and Citizenship Authority of Papua New generously provided funding and technical support toward the development of this digital platform.
“This initiative stands as a testament to the enduring partnership between Australia, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands, rooted in mutual respect and a shared vision for prosperity, resilience, and regional security,” Manemahaga said.
This digital Border Management System (BMS) represents a critical leap forward for the Solomon Islands as it reflects a government-wide commitment to modernization, innovation, and service delivery that meets the evolving needs of people, businesses, and international partners.
Embracing the digitalization of immigration and other border services enhances the efficiency and integrity of immigration services and lays the groundwork for improved revenue generation and strengthened national security.
