The Solomon Islands Anglican Church of Melanesia Seasonal Choir members celebrated the All Saints Day Festival over the weekend at the Ayr Townsville All Saints ACOM Anglican Church in North Queensland, Australia.
The choir is made up of Solomon Islanders who work on different farms in Ayr Townsville. Over the years, they have built a close bond, using music and faith to unite their community and celebrate their culture abroad.
Two members were baptized and confirmed as communicants by Bishop Keith Joseph.
Chairman of the Solomon Islands Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACOM) Seasonal Choir, Timothy Magusi, said the event brought joy to the community and choir members. More than a hundred people from the surrounding areas attended the special celebration.
“The community and church members were very happy to be part of the celebration event. They said they appreciated the celebration and felt blessed to worship with Melanesian brothers and sisters together,” he said.
During the service, two members were baptized and confirmed as communicants. Bishop Keith Joseph expressed his happiness for the new members and reminded everyone that, like saints, they should live apart and serve God. He encouraged them to love one another, highlighting it as the key message of the festival.
The new two members have joined as communicants with Bishop Keith Joseph.
Chairman Magusi, along with senior leaders John Mamarai and Grayson, thanked the choir’s executive for their hard work throughout the year. They highlighted the group’s two major outreach trips to Mackay and Brosphine earlier this year.
“The ACOM Seasonal Choir started five years ago, and because of our togetherness, we made the celebration a successful and blessed one,” Magusi said.
Two new confirmed members are cutting a cake with Bishop Keith Joseph.
He also shared hopes for the future: “We are looking forward to next year to see our team growing and welcome more members to join us. We want to work together, set a good example, and be proud citizens of the Solomon Islands while becoming role models.”
