Honiara, Saturday 6 September 2025 – The first of the Pacific Leaders and delegations for the 54th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting (PIFLM54) arrived in Honiara yesterday.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Peter Shanel Agovaka, yesterday afternoon officially welcomed four Forum Leaders on arrival. Hon. Agovaka was at the Honiara International Airport to receive the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Tonga, Hon. Dr. Aisake Valu Eke, and the Premier of Niue, Hon. Dalton Emani Makamau Tagelagi, who arrived on a Royal New Zealand Air Force flight. Shortly after, a private flight brought in the Prime Minister of Tuvalu, Hon. Feleti Penitala Teo, along with the Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, Hon. Baron Waqa.

In his earlier address ahead of the Leaders Meeting, Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele said Solomon Islands is honoured to host the Forum Family this year.“The Hapi Isles looks forward to welcoming our Pacific Islands Forum Family to our shores for the 54th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting on the 8th to the 12th of September,” the Prime Minister said.
He also highlighted that the theme “Iumi Tugeda: Act Now for an Integrated Blue Pacific Continent” captures the urgency for regional unity and action.“If ever there was a time that demanded strengthened Pacific regionalism and collective action, it is now,” Prime Minister Manele said.
More leaders and delegations are expected to arrive today ahead of the Forum Leaders Meeting.
