The Maringe-Kokota Constituency (MKC) is currently in full swing with the implementation of its Constituency Development Program funded livelihood projects, valued at $3.2 million.
The rollout commenced last weekend, following a brief sending off ceremony in Honiara between the Ministry of Rural Development, the Member of Parliament for Maringe-Kokota, Honourable Minister Cathy Nori, constituency officers, and community representatives.
Speaking at the brief event, Honourable Minister Nori emphasized the government’s commitment and the constituency office’s efforts under her leadership to foster socio-economic development and ensure that the benefits of the CDF directly reach rural communities.

Honourable Nori also expressed gratitude to the national government through the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) for its continued commitment and efforts in facilitating the CDF under the Constituency Development Program (CDP) for constituencies. This ensures that government support is accessible in the most remote communities nationwide.
MRD’s Deputy Secretary Technical (Acting), George Balairamo, while congratulating MKC on the milestone delivery, acknowledged the commitment and leadership of Honourable Nori in ensuring funds are utilized effectively to benefit rural communities.
He also thanked the MKC constituency officers for their tireless efforts in implementing the CDF program and ensuring that projects are delivered and reach the intended beneficiaries.

Mr. Balairamo stated that the Constituency Development Program (CDP) is an initiative that underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to empower communities and promote socio-economic development and prosperity in rural areas.
“This is an ongoing boost for our rural communities. These livelihood projects will enable our people to improve their lives and bring joy to families as we approach Christmas,” some constituents expressed.
Meanwhile, Constituency Development Officer (CDO) Walter Havimei confirmed that the projects were procured under the 2025 CDF budget, specifically under the Preferred Supplier Arrangement (PSA) component of the CDF.
He said the project delivery covers the Productive and Resource Sector, Essential Services, Cross-Sectoral and Inclusivity Initiatives, and Social and Cultural Obligations, all in accordance with the CDF Act 2023.

The projects include a range of activities, including income-generating, entrepreneurship, livelihood-enhancing initiatives, and projects for schools, communities, churches, and housing materials for families,” he added.
Mr. Havimei emphasized that the constituency office’s efforts are part of a broader strategy to foster economic resilience and improve the living standards of communities.
“This significant investment reflects our unwavering dedication to uplifting our community and creating opportunities that lead to long-term prosperity,” he stressed.

CDO Havimei also thanked the people of Maringe-Kokota constituency for their ongoing support, patience, and understanding towards the constituency office throughout the year, despite the delayed implementation due to financial circumstances faced by the national government.
