A total of 164 newly registered nurses were officially inducted into the nursing profession during a special ceremony held today, 9 July 2026, at St Barnabas Cathedral in Honiara.
The event marked a significant milestone for the nation’s healthcare sector, drawing families, friends, educators, and members of the public to witness the final cohort of nurses entering the workforce this year. This ceremony follows the induction of the first batch of graduates last month, completing the 2026 intake of new nursing professionals.
Held under the theme “Our Nurses, Our Future: Empowered Nurses Save Lives,” the ceremony honoured the dedication, resilience, and achievements of the graduates as they step into their professional roles across the country.
Guest of Honour, Hon. Morris To’iraena, Minister for Health and Medical Services, delivered the keynote address, congratulating the graduates and urging them to uphold compassion, professionalism, and integrity as they serve communities nationwide.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of registration certificates, followed by the placing of nursing badges, the lighting of candles, and the recitation of the International Nurses’ Pledge. These symbolic acts marked the graduates’ official entry into the nursing profession and reaffirmed their commitment to delivering quality healthcare services.
The ceremony concluded with heartfelt appreciation for the families, educators, mentors, and healthcare professionals who supported the graduates throughout their training. As these newly registered nurses begin their careers, they carry the responsibility of caring for communities and strengthening the future of healthcare in the Solomon Islands.
