Dr Phillip Tagini has been appointed Chairman of the Solomon Islands National Provident Fund (SINPF) Board, replacing Sir Jimmie Rodgers.
The appointment was made by Finance and Treasury Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo under the Solomon Islands National Provident Fund Act.
An Extra-Ordinary Gazette published on 27 July 2026 confirms Dr Tagini’s appointment for a three-year term, effective from the date the instrument was published.
The Gazette also confirms the appointment of Ronald Dive as Deputy Chairman for a three-year term.
Dr Tagini is a Solomon Islands lawyer, policy specialist and academic with experience in government, law and natural resource policy.
In 2014, he served as Special Secretary to the Prime Minister under the government led by Gordon Darcy Lilo.
Dr Tagini holds a PhD in Law and Policy from Monash University in Australia. His professional work has included legal and policy advice on natural resources, customary land governance, public finance and investment.
He has also worked with international development organisations on governance and policy matters.
SINPF manages retirement contributions made by employees and employers in Solomon Islands and oversees investments on behalf of its members.
The Fund has interests in a number of businesses and commercial assets, including Solomon Telekom, South Pacific Oil, Solomon Housing, Heritage Park Hotel, SolTuna, the Solomon Islands Submarine Cable Company and Solomon Finance.
The change in leadership comes as the GREAT Coalition Government continues to make appointments to statutory boards and other public institutions.
Dr Tagini will now lead the SINPF Board for the three-year term set out in the appointment instrument.
