Government confirms Slovenia’s participation in Expo 2027 Belgrade
The Government took note of the Information on the specialised world exhibition Expo 2027 Belgrade and supported the proposal for the Republic of Slovenia to participate in the exhibition. It also authorised the Minister of Economy, Labour and Sport, Dr Anže Logar, to sign the Letter of Intent for participation.
The Ministry of Economy, Labour and Sport, as the national coordinator for the cooperation of the Republic of Slovenia with the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), considers participation in Expo an important opportunity to strengthen Slovenia’s international visibility, promote economic cooperation, and present Slovenian knowledge, innovation and sustainable solutions.
The specialised world exhibition Expo 2027 will take place in Belgrade under the theme Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All, highlighting the role of play, sport and music in promoting health and innovation, connecting people, and strengthening social resilience. The organisers expect more than four million visitors and the participation of more than 120 countries. In addition to the exhibition programme, Expo will host numerous cultural, sporting, educational and business events.
Slovenia’s participation is also of strategic importance due to the significance of the Western Balkan markets for the Slovenian economy. As an important economic and logistics hub in the region, Belgrade offers an opportunity to strengthen economic ties and support the internationalisation of the Slovenian economy. Expo will enable Slovenian companies, research organisations, cultural institutions and other stakeholders to present their achievements and establish new business and development partnerships.
At Expo, Slovenia will present its strengths in advanced technologies, the green transition, the circular economy, smart mobility, digital solutions and sports technologies. It will also highlight its development model based on cooperation between the economy, science and the state, as well as its profile as a green, safe and inclusive country with a high quality of life, a strong sporting culture and sustainable tourism.
