The historic granary was opened in late September during a traditional autumn event known as Giving thanks for the harvest.

“The granary, a modest yet highly significant structure, was once a symbol of abundance, security, and care for one’s family and the wider community in the Liptov region,” said Ľubomír Kubáň, Mayor of Ružomberok, the town that owns the building. “The fruits of hard work were stored here – grains, potatoes, and other gifts of the earth that nourished people throughout the year.”

The exhibition was prepared in cooperation with the Liptov Museum, which manages several displays in neighbouring buildings, as part of a project run by the regional tourism organisations OOCR Region Liptov and OOCR Rajecká Dolina.

“By opening this exhibition, we want to pay homage to the everyday lives of farmers – their diligence and their ability to get the best out of the land,” said Darina Bartková, head of Region Liptov. “We also want to show visitors to Liptov that tradition is not only a memory, but also an inspiration. It shows us the way towards honouring local nature, traditions, and values with lasting significance.”
