Slovakia’s self-governing regions have published lists of health-care facilities that will provide emergency care over the Christmas holidays, should your health suddenly deteriorate or you suffer an injury.

Known in Slovak as pohotovosť, outpatient emergency services are intended for acute and sudden health issues that do not immediately threaten life but still require prompt medical attention. These services are divided into adult, paediatric and dental emergency care.

Bratislava

Paediatric emergency care will be provided at the Národný ústav detských chorôb (National Institute of Children’s Diseases, NÚDCH) on Limbová Street in the Kramáre area. The service operates from 16:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and from 08:00 to 20:00 on weekends and public holidays. NÚDCH can be reached by trolleybuses 42, 49, and 64, get off at the Magurská stop.

Adult emergency care will be available at two locations:

• Univerzitná nemocnica Bratislava – Ružinov (Bratislava – Ružinov University Hospital) on Ružinovská Street in the Ružinov borough. The hospital can be reached by tram 9 and buses 50 and 75, get off at the Nemocnica Ružinov stop.

• Poliklinika Strečnianska on Strečnianska Street in the Petržalka borough. The facility can be reached by buses 92, 95, 99 and 192, get off at either the Strečnianska or Šintavská stops.

Both facilities operate from 16:00 to 22:00 on weekdays and from 07:00 to 22:00 on weekends and public holidays.

The following pharmacies will remain open over Christmas (24–26 December) until 22:00:

• Pharmacy at NÚDCH on Limbová Street in the Kramáre area (24–26 December)

• Dr. Max Pharmacy at the Bory Hospital in the Lamač borough (24–25 December)

• Lekáreň Mariánska on Heydukova Street in the Staré Mesto borough (25 December)

• Univerzitná Lekáreň on Ružinovská Street in the Ružinov borough, next to the hospital (26 December)
