The West Africa Integration and Investment Summit 2026 has officially opened in Freetown, bringing together key stakeholders from across the region and beyond to advance economic cooperation and investment.
The two-day summit, running from April 29 to 30, convenes government officials, private sector leaders, development partners, and international investors for high-level discussions aimed at strengthening regional integration and unlocking new investment opportunities across West Africa.
Organized in collaboration with ECOWAS member states, the summit focuses on promoting cross-border trade, enhancing infrastructure development, and fostering stronger economic partnerships within the region.
Participants are exploring bankable projects in critical sectors such as energy, transportation, agriculture, and digital innovation. The programme also includes business matchmaking sessions, startup pitch platforms, and youth engagement initiatives designed to drive inclusive growth.
Organizers emphasized that the summit is geared toward achieving tangible investment outcomes that will directly benefit the people of West Africa, moving beyond dialogue to action.
Further engagements, including a planned Heads of State Summit later this year, are expected to build on the momentum generated at the Freetown gathering.
The event has also drawn commendation for the contributions of Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, recognized for his continued service and commitment to national and regional development.
