The First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone and President of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, joined President Dr. Julius Maada Bio at a state banquet held in honour of President Brice ClotaireOligui Nguema of the Gabonese Republic and First Lady Mrs. Zita Oligui Nguema during their official visit to Sierra Leone.
The banquet, hosted at Chapter One Restaurant on Monday evening, brought together senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps and other distinguished guests in celebration of the longstanding friendship and growing diplomatic relations between Sierra Leone and Gabon.
In her remarks, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio highlighted the importance of African unity, sisterhood and collaboration in advancing peace, sustainable development and shared prosperity across the continent.
Speaking in her capacity as President of OAFLAD, she reaffirmed the critical role of African women in driving development and called for stronger partnerships among African nations to address common challenges and create greater opportunities for women and girls.
The First Lady also expressed confidence that the relationship between Sierra Leone and Gabon would continue to deepen, fostering stronger cooperation and delivering tangible benefits for the people of both countries.
The state banquet formed part of President OliguiNguema’s official visit to Sierra Leone and underscored the commitment of both nations to strengthening bilateral ties, promoting regional cooperation and advancing a shared vision for a peaceful, united and prosperous Africa.
