On 17 February 2026, the Advisory Board of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) led by the Chairman Mr. Prince Goba, paid a courtesy visit on the Minister of Finance, Mr. Sheku Ahmed Fantamadi Bangura. In attendance were the Financial Secretary, Mr. Matthew Dingie, the Principal Deputy Financial Secretary, Mr. Samuel E.B. Momoh, the Director of Budget Bureau, Mr. Tasima Jah and the Technical Adviser to the Minister, Dr. Franklin Sisabu Bendu. The Chairman’s delegation included Deputy Commissioner of the ACC, Mr. Augustine Foday Ngobie and Advisory Board members.
The Hon. Minister welcomed the Chairman and Advisory Board members and informed the Chairman that the Ministry of Finance acknowledges the critical role of the ACC in fighting corruption and ensuring the scarce government resources are used efficiently. The Minister also informed the Chairman that the Ministry of Finance and the ACC share an excellent relationship and that the Ministry will always support the ACC to ensure that the risk of financial corruption is minimised.
The Chairman thanked the Minister for his stewardship of the economy and the support provided to the ACC over the years. The Chairman appealed to the Minister to continue to support the ACC to ensure effective operation of the institution.
The Chairman outline key challenges facing the ACC including logistics for office running, refurbishment of regional offices, staff welfare and emolument of Board members. He said more can be done to tackle corruption of the ACC is capacitated.
The Financial Secretary promised the Chairman that the challenges highlighted will be looked into to ensure the effective functioning of the ACC. The Financial Secretary also informed the Chairman that the ACC will benefit from capacity support under the proposed Public Financial Management project currently being prepared.
