The Spanish Metre film festival, organised by the Instituto Cervantes, will take place from 27 May to 10 June.
The contemporary film section, the festival’s main programme, is led by the multi-award-winning Spanish film “Sundays”, which will be screened at the festival opening on 27 May at the Hall of the Belgrade Cultural Centre. Director Alauda Ruiz de Azúa presents a family drama about Ainara, a young woman who finds herself increasingly drawn to the contemplative life of a Catholic convent rather than to her forthcoming university studies. In addition to numerous festival awards, the film triumphed at the Goya Awards ceremony in February, winning prizes in five major categories: Best Film, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, according to a statement from the Instituto Cervantes.
Alongside this title, festival audiences will also have the opportunity to watch five more films from recent Spanish productions as part of the main programme.
In addition to the main programme, this year’s Spanish Metre festival will also include the programme segments Women’s Perspective and Goya Honorary Award: Gonzalo Suárez.
All information regarding screening schedules and selected films is available via the festival’s official website, as well as the Instagram and Facebook profiles of the Instituto Cervantes.
