The film The Outing (Izlet), directed by Nenad Pavlović and produced by Belgrade-based Digimedia, has been selected as the Serbian candidate for the 99th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category for 2026, the producers have announced.
The decision was made unanimously by the Selection Committee for the Serbian Oscar Entry.
The Outing will thus represent Serbia in the Oscar race for the 99th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Awards, which will be held on 14 March 2027 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
The nominations for the 99th Academy Awards will be announced on 21 January 2027.
The film is based on the 1957 novel of the same name by the renowned painter, film director, and writer Mića Popović. In The Outing, a young artist named Toma embarks on an adventurous journey down a river, fleeing from a totalitarian society and a personal tragedy that has struck his family. Throughout this mystical odyssey, Toma faces numerous hardships and challenges that he must overcome.
The ensemble cast includes Stefan Vukić, Jovo Maksić, Nenad Heraković, Radoslav Rale Milenković, Denis Murić, Radoje Čupić, Milena Pavlović, Milena Radulović, Milica Trifunović, Marija Opsenica, Elizabeta Đorevska, Antonio Scarpa, Dragan Bjelogrlić, and Predrag Miki Manojlović.
