The exhibition by Muhammed Muheisen will be on display at Silosi until 28 May. The Belgrade exhibition, titled Moments in Time, by the two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, National Geographic photographer and Explorer, will be open daily from 2 pm to 8 pm.
The exhibition, organised by the International Organization for Migration with the support of the European Union, offers visitors the opportunity to view, through the lens of one of today’s most significant photographers, the beauty of human connection and the universal need for home, togetherness and hope.
Muheisen captured intimate moments and scenes from the everyday lives of people on the move across the world, from Afghanistan and Jordan to Serbia and Austria. His photographs tell stories of courage, memory and belonging, revealing human strength, resilience and warmth in different circumstances, the organisers stated.
“These moments in time were captured over the past 15 years in Afghanistan, Austria, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Jordan, Pakistan, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine. They are never just images; they are voices, messages and testimonies that live forever,” the author said.
Jovana Gušić, Programme Coordinator at the IOM office in Serbia, stated that “in the spirit of a decade of EU support for migration management in Serbia, this exhibition reflects a shared vision to shed light on the stories of people in migration.”
Muhammed Muheisen is also the founder and chairman of the Dutch non-profit organisation Everyday Refugees Foundation, as well as a global ambassador for the Jordan Tourism Board and Canon. In 2013, Time named him Best Wire Photographer, and in 2023 he received the National Geographic Wayfinder Award. His life and work are featured in the National Geographic documentary Finding the Light, currently streaming on [Disney+].
The exhibition has been organised under the auspices of the EU Support to Migration Management in Serbia – Promoting the Integration of Refugees and Migrants project, in partnership with the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of Serbia and UNHCR.
Additional support for the exhibition has been provided by Canon, Silosi and Gaia Pokret.
The exhibition is open to the public until 28 May at Silosi, every day from 2 pm to 8 pm.
